Keep buying those almonds folks even though they are expensive. The bee population is dying and it affects a lot of things in the environment.
More than 80% of the world’s almonds are grown in California and, to pollinate them, the 7,000 or so growers hire about 1.4m of America’s 2.3m commercial hives. Bee rental now accounts for 15% of Paramount’s costs.
If you want to try and help save the bee population, one of the ways you could do it is by staying at a Fairmont Hotel. The hotel chains are now setting up rooftop hives to try and help boost the bee population and at the same time producing some amazing honey. I’ll definitely go out of my way to stay at a hotel that helps the earth like this.
Albert Einstein once said: “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination … no more men!”
Chew on that statement.
I orginally found the hotel bee hives at Body + Soul mag but they have no link to the article. I found a more in depth article here.

I will think twice on SMASHING bee's in the future.
I have to agree with that
I have to agree with that statement. Why are they really doing this? Either way its still helping the world but now Im thinking:)
So many things I didn't know!
Wow. Never knew that California was producing so much of our almonds. And we have been busy exterminating all the bees in our backyards. There should definitely be something in place to try to help preserve bees.
But I am skeptical as to why Fairmont is willing to help bees. In this day and age, I assume that almost every corporate move is for profit.
Hmmmmm . . . save the bees!
That is very interesting
That is very interesting information! I LOVE almonds! Thanks for sharing.
