Skipping Hearts Arrhythmia Site

If you are having heart problems and feel like you need more information head over to skippinghearts.com. This site was created by an internet buddy of mine who has been living with heart issues for 20+ years.

Having struggled with heart issues over the past year, I found sites like skippinghearts.com very helpful. The members at sites like these usually have years of experience in dealing with these issues and can really help a new patient through.

You can also find comfort just talking to people who may not have experience but are suffering from the same issues.

Skippinghearts.com was created early this year by Jeff Pozniak and Jodie French. We were all members over at another site and the duo decided to create their own more personal forum for people suffering specifically with arrhythmias.

I think Jeff and Jodie balance the site because you can get the male or female perspective. Plus they have 30 years combined experience with these issues. I struggled to find someone my age who was dealing with arrhythmia and Jodie was very helpful because she has been there.

She has suffered through all the different age ranges and can comfort a wide range of women. You can learn more about Jeff and Jodie over at their about page.

Go to their site for amazing stories like the thirty something mommy who has congestive heart failure and an implanted cardiac defibrillator but didn’t let it stop her from having a baby and living a normal life.

The site has a forum too. Plus if you are looking for definitions to the cardiologist lingo find your answers here. What is a bigeminy or trigeminy? What do the results of my echo mean or how fast should my heart rate recover after exercise? Double check your doctors to make sure that you are getting the best care possible.

The best part is the relationships that you can develop. When you are the only one in your family who is going through a certain health issue sometimes it’s hard for loved ones to understand.

Some family members may even say that you just crave attention or have anxiety because doctors don’t always have the answers. A lot of people feel that if there is no answer and you look fine then all is well.

I had nights online where Jodie was like a mom. She would comfort me and then smack me around a little. I was totally freaking out one night and she just typed in Lucy you are not going to die. It is anxiety getting the best of you today.

Heart problems can drive a person crazy and it’s nice to have people to help guide you through the symptoms.

Sites like these make you feel normal when all the members are going through the same thing. This is so important if you want to heal. Head over to the site today, get answers you are looking for and tell Jodie I said hi.

Just remember dont take online health advice as the final word. Use it as a tool to work with your doctor and keep them on their toes.

Science and Healing

Go grab the September 2009 issue of Body and Soul. This months magazine is packed with great information.

My favorite article so far is on the topic of Science and Healing by Lynn Willeford. What a great article. I just felt like I have walked the many steps she discusses. Like the blank stares from American doctors when you even breathe about alternative care.

This short article dives deep into the ping pong match between American Medicine and Alternative Medicine. If I were giving my input on why sick people should give Alternative Medicine a try, this would be one of the articles that I would have a person read.

Go get your mag, read this article and give other options a try.

Choosing Happiness by Jeffrey Gitomer

My husband loves Jeffrey Gitomer and he sent me one of his articles to read. I am guilty of being the person described in this article at times. Its a great read to get me back on track to where I mentally should to be.

After is a self-defeating word. It robs you of the present, and resigns you to wait without taking any action.

You convince yourself that life will be better after something: After you get a new job, after you get a better job, after you get more money, after you get out of debt, after the economy rebounds, after your stocks go back up, after you get that big order.

You convince yourself that life will be better after an event: After you get married, after you have a baby, after you get a new house, after you take a vacation, after you come back from vacation, after summer is over, or some other action-procrastinating “after.”

Are you frustrated that the kids aren't old enough, and believe you'll be more content after they’re in high school or out of high school? Are you frustrated that you have teenagers to deal with? You will certainly be happy after they’re out of that stage. Certainly you’ll be happier after they’re in college, or is it out of college?

You tell yourself that your life will be more complete when your spouse gets his or her act together, when you get a nicer car, a new house, a raise in pay, a new boss, or worse, after you retire.

The truth is, the fact is, the reality is, there's no better time to be happy than right now.

If not now, when? After the economy gets better?
You may not be able to wait that long.

Your life will always be filled with challenges, barriers, and disappointments. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Alfred Souza said, “For a long, long time it had seemed to me that I was about to begin real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.”

There is no way to happiness.
Happiness is the way.
There is no after to happiness
Happiness is now.

Here’s the answer: It’s inside your head FIRST and...

Stress Quiz

1. Do you cry at the drop of a hat and eat for comfort?

2. Do you have a rash that comes and goes?

3. Are you suffering from frequent heartburn or gas?

4. Were you sick a lot this year?

5. Did your sex drive leave the planet?

6. Are you getting new headaches and have a short fuse?

7. Do your bowels control 50% of your life?

If you answered no to three or more of these questions then I wish I was you.

If you answered yes to three or four of these questions then you might want to make some slight adjustments in your life. You are on the verge of being stressed out.

If you answered yes to five or more of these questions then you honestly have to look at your life. First, go to the doctor to make sure nothing major is wrong. If your diagnosis is stress and anxiety then make lots of serious changes before your symptoms turn into an illness. Take a vacation right away or go to the spa to refocus your spirit.

Some quick facts

Stress makes your body release cortisol. Elevated cortisol decreases your body’s natural fat barrier. This barrier protects your skin and keeps it from drying out. If your skin is not protected then this organ can suck in lots of icky things that can cause a rash.

58% of frequent heartburn suffers point to hectic lifestyle as the cause. When life is crazy we do not eat right and forget to exercise. We all know what food on the go can do to our tummies.

"A study by Dr. Sheldon Cohen at Carnegie Mellon University showed that only chronic stress, lasting a month or more, affected the risk of catching a cold and that two causes of stress -- being unemployed or underemployed, or having interpersonal difficulties with relatives or friends -- had the greatest influence on risk."

"Even being socially well-connected, which could provide emotional support during hard times, could not overcome the harmful effects of chronic severe stress, the researchers reported."
