Spiritual Sundays

Our church service was very deep today. Pastor Christ Brown put on an amazing service that almost made me cry. His words left me with these thoughts as America heads into 2010.

I receive jokes and emails ripping apart our government constantly. Emails saying check out this protest or sign this petition to fight for a cause that our government is taking away. I’m not an Obama fan and I’m not a fan of the Republicans either but as I sat through the service today and watched video on Africa and Haiti a thought came to mind.

Why do we bash our government at every turn? Why do we criticize every move the president makes and I mean all presidents. We still have issues to work on in this country but at least our government is not letting our poor eat dirt, literally. As we drive our cars, eat our food, put our kids through school, drink at bars, spend the day at the beach, fly through the sky to see loved ones, etc. Maybe once in a while it should occur to us to be darn thankful of what we are allowed to do in this country.

If you watch the embedded video it’s plain crazy. The pastor who recorded spent about a minute recording the woman straining the mud and butter through a cloth. At first I got a little impatient because I just wanted to get through the video but then another thought came to mind.

In one minute this family is half way through the process to feed their family mud. While on the other hand, in one minute I can microwave my kids just about any tasty food that they want. When I think of this it makes me think twice about bashing the American Government and who is making decisions in that chair.

I’m not saying that we should just let the politicians run free as that wouldn’t be good either but after viewing the videos that I saw in church today, I am happy that I was born here. I am happy that our government is working the way that it is. I am happy that in this country we do not see poverty at the level that other human beings are experiencing it right now.

If someone could just answer one question for me. If Haiti is an island, why do the people not fish?

There are people who can walk away from you.

And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.

When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.

Let them go.

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.. You've got to know when it's dead.

You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something.. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye.. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay.

Let them go!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains .......

If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth......

LET IT GO!!!

If someone has angered you.

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge.....

LET IT GO!!!

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction... ..

LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents

LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude.... ...

LET IT GO!!!

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better......

LET IT GO!!!

If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him.........

LET IT GO!!!

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship. ....

LET IT GO!!!

If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves.. ....

LET IT GO!!!

If you're feeling depressed and stressed .............

LET IT GO!!!

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying 'take your hands off of it,' then you need to......

LET IT GO!!!

'The Battle is the Lord's!'

One of this week’s top news stories is the discovery of an Earth like planet orbiting a nearby star. Here is a quote from the article. The discovery of the planet, called GJ 1214b, represents a "major step forward" in the search for worlds similar to our own, added the University of California's Geoffrey Marcy.

It’s interesting to me that so many people think that our planet is the only one capable of life throughout the entire universe. With the new found information above I think this topic is getting to a point where there is just no more denying it. There is a huge possibility that other life exists.

It seems like scientists are making huge discoveries in outer space a lot. In the past our government has said no but as our technology advances the answer of alien life moves to a yes in my mind. No one knows for sure what really lies beyond. The government can’t prove no and I can’t prove yes. Just think how fast we have evolved. What if another race has evolved faster and that is why people have had alien sightings here on Earth?

I believe in God and I believe that he controls everything. I also believe that God wouldn’t just create one solar system. I think he has created many. After all I think planet Earth would be boring to watch after a while. Men and women battling for power and money and love and hate for thousands of years could get a bit boring to watch so why not create many worlds. Remember the end to one of the Men in Black movies? The clip where there is a giant hand juggling a bunch of worlds. This is how I view God.

I wish that I could be here another 100 years from now. If humans don’t blow themselves to smithereens and technology advances at the pace it has, imagine life 100 years from now and the fun gadgets that will be made. If humans keep at the current pace our views into space are going to be amazing. What other worlds will God unveil? If our TV signals are reaching farther than this new found planet, in 100 years will we be communicating freely with other worlds?

Just some thoughts this week after reading this article. I’ll check into the asylum later but first I’d love to hear your opinion.
